Food Justice

Everyone deserves to eat, and everyone deserves to eat well.

H St. NE used to be a food desert.  New development is changing that, but the low-income community in the Atlas District of DC is still one of the least served communities.

Our partnership with Douglas Memorial United Methodist Church has helped us create one of the most dynamic and hospitable food pantries in DC.  Douglas has been serving the community for decades.  By partnering together, we were able to give out over 20,000 pounds of food last year, and we hope to increase that in 2015. Our pantry is open to the public on 1st and 3rd Saturdays between 9:00-11:00.

We’re excited to announce that The Table/Douglas Memorial was chosen to receive the Capital Area Food Bank’s produce grant. We were the only church selected this year.  As a recipient, we will be giving away over 4,000 pounds of local produce this summer. Our first Fresh Produce Saturday will be May 23rd.

We’re excited about being a part of creating a thriving community, by providing high quality food for the neighborhood we love.
